Microneedling

  • MICRONEEDLING EXPLAINED

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure used to tighten and smooth skin. During the treatment thin needles are used to create micro wounds in the surface of the skin. These small wounds trick the skin into repairing itself naturally by stimulating collagen and elastin thus helping to rejuvenate skin’s appearance.

The procedure is done with topical numbing cream so discomfort is minimal. Downtime following the procedure is short, with redness and swelling resolving within the first 48 hours.

Microneedling is effective in treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, some type of acne scars, enlarged pores and overall skin tone. And since the procedure does not use heat it is an treatment option for people prone to hyper pigmentation problems. This is evaluated on each client individually.

Temporary side effect of microneedling are redness and swelling in treatment area lasting for the first 24 to 48 hours; typically it will feel like a slight sunburn. Once this resolves there might be some slight peeling 5 to 7 days post treatment.

If you are prone to cold sores this treatment can stimulate a new outbreak. Please reach out to your provider to get an antiviral prescription prior to treatment.
